Panchakarma is a set of five therapeutic treatments traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to cleanse the body of toxins. The term "panchakarma" means "five actions" and these procedures are meant to intensively cleanse and restore balance to the body, mind, and emotions. Here are the five main components of Panchakarma:

5. Raktamokshana (Bloodletting)

This is a therapeutic blood cleansing method and is less commonly practiced than the other four. It involves the removal of small quantities of blood to neutralize accumulated toxins in the bloodstream. This is used to treat disorders associated with impure blood, including certain types of skin conditions.

Each of these treatments is designed to address specific bodily imbalances and health issues, with the goal of restoring health and wellness by cleansing the body and balancing the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Panchakarma treatments are usually preceded by preparatory procedures like oil massages and steam baths to soften the body and make the main treatments more effective.
